About
Ben Yonas is a music producer, artist manager, and professor based in Atlanta, GA. Over 20 years, he’s built a career on both sides of the glass — making records and running the business around them. He’s produced sessions with artists from Yasiin Bey (Mos Def) to The Bar-Kays, managed 14 touring acts, placed music in film and television, and taught the next generation how to do all of it at a university level. The thread connecting everything is the same: support artists and their recordings.
Through Yonas Media, he runs an independent music management and production company — a cooperative launching pad for musicians who have an original approach to creating and performing music. The roster includes The Sensational Barnes Brothers, Jeremy Kittel, Making Movies, Los Rakas, The Bar-Kays, Sachal Vasandani, and eight other touring acts, backed by a team of seven handling booking, tour marketing, tour management, and sync licensing.
He created ATL Sync, a sync licensing company rooted in Atlanta’s music scene, connecting world-class artists with licensing opportunities in film, television, commercials, and video games. The catalog includes artists like Lupe Fiasco, K Camp, and Young MC. He also co-created Crosstown Sync with Crosstown Arts in Memphis — licensing music created by Memphis artists and musicians, bringing the rich sounds of Memphis to the big screen.
At Georgia State University’s School of Music, he teaches in the Music Technology and Management program. His students run MTM Standard, a student-led music distribution and sync licensing company operating out of the School of Music in the heart of downtown Atlanta. Everything he teaches comes from work he’s still doing daily — production, management, licensing, touring. The classroom isn’t theory. It’s the same operation, with students in the room.
